Warum ich male
Mir geht es beim Malen um den Malprozess selbst, die spontane Geste, die Aktion. Gefühle sollen nicht illustriert, sondern unmittelbar ausgedrückt werden. Ich möchte nicht nach der Natur malen, sondern wie sie, sozusagen parallel zu ihr. Das Eintauchen in das Bild und das Ausschalten des Verstandes sind dabei sehr wichtig. Es geht dabei nicht um eine bestimmte Bedeutung, sondern eher um einen Klang, den ich erzeugen möchte.
Ausgangspunkt meiner Bilder sind meist spontane, gestische Pinsel- oder Spachtelspuren auf Papier, Hartfaserplatte oder Leinwand. Manchmal verwende ich auch Vorlagen aus der Natur, wie Früchte, Blätter, Holz, Blüten oder Wurzeln.
Why I paint
Painting, for me, is about the process itself—the spontaneous gesture, the act of making. Feelings are not meant to be illustrated, but expressed directly. I do not seek to paint nature, but rather to paint alongside it. Immersion in the work and the suspension of rational thought are essential. It is not about conveying a specific meaning, but about creating a certain resonance.
My paintings often begin with spontaneous, gestural marks made with a brush or palette knife on paper, hardboard, or canvas. At times, I also draw on forms found in nature—fruits, leaves, wood, blossoms, or roots—as points of departure.
